Embedded systems, is the keyword today with numerous embedded solutions addressing the needs of enterprises by making them more productive and manageable. With over 20 years of experience, Aftek has a core competency in developing newer and cutting edge products and providing expert services in the embedded domain.
Aftek has developed PDAs, Mobile phones, Biometric and Smart Card devices, for the Home Automation, Transport Automation, Security, and Banking verticals.
Aftek's expertise in the embedded development includes:
- Bluetooth
- GSM
- WiFi
- Storage
- VoIP / Codecs (Audio, Video)
- BSP
Constant innovation and IP based services give Aftek an edge over other embedded systems solution providers.
Aftek has been working on Bluetooth for the last 7 years. We have worked on all layers on Bluetooth, right from the driver level to the application level. Our experience includes:
- Porting of Bluetooth stacks like Affix, Widcomm, on various platforms
- Work on USB and UART drivers for Linux and µcLinux
- Customizing Affix Bluetooth stack
- Experience on various Bluetooth profiles like LAN Access Profile, Headset Profile, Dial-up Networking Profile, Human Interaction Profile, Cordless Telephony Profile, Handsfree Profile and Audio/Video profile
Bluetooth applications developed by Aftek are:
- Serial application for single point as well as multipoint devices
- Data exchange over OBEX with mobile device
- Transfer of call from PSTN modem to the Bluetooth enabled headset
- Control of appliances using BT HID
- Streaming application between two devices using A2DP
- Gaming dongle application which involves simultaneous data and voice data transfer
- USB dongle application for single as well as multiple streaming connections
With our GSM expertise we have powered the Personal Wireless Gateway (PWG), a dual mode phone to simultaneously communicate with the GSM network and the dialer / configuration software over Bluetooth on PDA. It also provides other standard functionality like making/receiving calls, call hold, etc.
PWG uses a Quad Band GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900, GSM Phase 2+, Transmit Power Class 4 and 1, GSM module and supports 14.4Kbps class B (alternate voice / data) GPRS operation. It supports GSM 07.05, GSM 07.07 standards.
Aftek has successfully integrated WiFi access points and WiFi clients in our products. We have interfaced multiple clients like wireless TV, WiFi camera and the WiFi phone with the WiFi access point and implemented the WEP key and access control list feature to limit the WiFi clients.
Aftek has worked on the 802.11g protocol, Prism GT Javelin chipset 3886M and WiFi AP card.
Aftek has been operational in the storage development projects since the last few years. We have successfully developed a highly secure storage reader with onboard encryption intelligence. Secure storage reader development activity includes porting of operating system, device drivers for various interfaces, and stack development.
Aftek has also successfully demonstrated storage development capability on customized boards. The processors on this platform were 32 bit ARM7 core. Development was done on protocol stacks USB 1.1, USB 2.0 standards on ARM7TDMI, USB device class (Mass storage, CCID), Smart cards (ISO/IEC 7816-3 (T=0 and T=1 protocols), ISO/IEC 7816-4), Device drivers.
Our VoIP and Codecs expertise covers work done on SIP enhancements based on RFC 3261, RTP/RTCP implementation based on RFC 1889, NAT traversal for VoIP using STUN/Symmetric Response Routing, integration and optimization of speech Codecs G.729 AB, GSM-6.01, G.726 (24Kbps/32Kbps), G.723.1 (5.3Kbps/6.3Kbps) on Intel Xscale Arm Linux platform, work done on adaptive jitter buffer management towards speech quality enhancement for VoIP.
We have used these skills for developing the Personal Wireless Gateway and Digital Home Gateway solutions.
Board support package development includes porting of bootloader, operating system, and device drivers for various interfaces, protocol stack development, porting of various file systems on different platforms. Along with the above mentioned activities, Aftek has also demonstrated BSP development capability on indigenously developed boards as well as on customized boards. Processors on these platforms vary from 8 bit to 32 bit processors. Some of these are IXP425, PXA270, PXA255, ARM9 and ARM7 cores.
