Aftek's subsidiary, Arexera to beef up Pune presence
Pune, March 29, 2006:
Arexera Information Technologies GmbH (AIT GmbH), the wholly owned subsidiary of Aftek (BSE code 530707) has focused Pune as the center for having its prime research and development facility in coming months. The R&D centre will be housed in Aftek's upcoming premises for software development at Hinjewadi.
A step in the direction will be the launch of the search engine Seekport in India at the end of calendar year 2006. Arexera has 56 per cent stake in Seekport, that prides itself for the fact that it is the only search engine to cater to the non-English speaking people with region specific customized information, through 126 million indexed pages.
According to Mr Simon Khosla, COO of AIT GmbH, with the increasing middle class, the number of net users has increased. This has translated into a very high growth potential and time is now ripe to foray the search engine market here. With networking of rural villages to district headquarters through communication kiosks, Seekport sees itself playing a major role in this area. 'Arexera is in the process of finalizing business plans and is looking out for strategic partners' he said.
Said Mr. Mahesh Vaidya, Chief Technology Officer, Aftek , 'Aftek will help Arexera in identifying the partners to consolidate Arexera's position in India.'
